Overview

The goal of an effective communication program is to present a cohesive, innovative graphic identity across a variety of media formats. The challenge when creating a complex design system is to maintain a consistent message and visual language without becoming repetitive or disjointed in the execution. This course is an opportunity for students to investigate organizational strategies and graphic interpretations using typography, images, and diverse applications of design, to create a related network of dynamic solutions. Topics covered in this course include:

1) Designing a system that includes a wide range of media formats and sizes
2) Interpreting and visualizing a specific theme in an innovative way
3) Integrating color, type, imagery to produce compelling designs that reinforce a theme
4) Using a rigorous design process to develop a smart, effective solution
5) We will also address issues related to the audience, image creation, and production
